Welcome to IS RC (Reading Comprehension) III & IV -- Reading on the web.
This is for students in the Dept. of Intercultural Studies at Miyagi Gakuin Women's University, Sendai, Japan.
I'm glad you are here.
You learned a lot and your reading got faster in last year's class. You'll make even more progress this year.
Last year's class was required. This year's reading class is elective. So, by taking it, you are deciding that you want to make real progress in English. You are in control of your own learning. Wonderful!
Like last year, you need to read a lot. We are switching to a "How many words" system. I think it will be fairer. We'll also be using the Word Engine to learn vocabulary. There are thousands of books in the library. Or you can read other easy books. If you are not sure of the level, ask Marc.
In class, we'll be reading on the Internet. You'll learn to use the Internet in English. You'll also increase you skills in areas like searching for information in English, Making and giving PowerPoint Presentations, etc.
You're going to make a lot of progress. And I think you'll enjoy reading and building your skills!
